I don’t know about you, but 2016 went by in an absolute flash! Before we knew it, here at Picture This Studios, we were getting preparations ready for New Years Eve. Our colleagues at Camana Bay put on an awesome evening of entertainment. Fireworks filled the skies, music filled the air, and celebrations were shared by all.

It’s the end of the summer holidays which can mean only one thing…….schools back in! Judging by how excited these youngsters were they couldn’t wait to start school. I had a great day shooting with these little characters at Camana Bay and getting to know what their aspirations are for what they want to be when they are a little bit older. We had everything from Power Rangers to train drivers, dancers to engineers, olympians and soccer players. So you never know we may be looking at the next Usain Bolt or Lionel Messi!

What I enjoy most about these shoots is providing families with memories that they can cherish and keep. Capturing moments that begin to tell a story of someones life, that can be kept forever, added to but not taken away are a wonderful and precious gift for any individual or family.

I loved this location session, and it is an especially special one to me as I photographed this little girl as a newborn baby. That newborn session just happens to have been one of my very first sessions when I first started working here at Picture This Studios.

So what an honor it is to be capturing such precious moments such as these of them together as a family even now, a year later! It’s true when they say time flies when your having fun, not just for me and my passion for photography, but for them too, as a family.  To watch their beautiful daughter grow; the first year of your babies life is one the most crucial times. It’s when you really experience so much, and learn so much about this little person that she is growing up to be. You really grow together as a family, and thats the most beautiful thing. Having these moments of your life photographed is one of the best gifts to your families future selves!

Can you believe its been four years since the London Olympics? It really does not seem that long ago that we were all engrossed in the sporting action. In what has been a crazy Summer for sports, we have had yet another amazing event to watch. What an event it has been with the greatest athletes on the planet going head to head in the hope of striking gold. International superstars such as Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps and Sir Bradley Wiggins have all been gracing our screens at the Rio Olympics over the last three weeks. What better way to celebrate than watching it all unfold on a big outdoor movie screen. Accompanied by friends and toasting the nations with a drink, the event was a great success. Huge cheers could be heard for the teams but none greater than for the Cayman Islands Olympic team. A spectacular firework display rounded off the celebrations and set everybody in the mood for the next three weeks. Don’t forget to get your pictures taken with the Olympic torch statue in Camana Bay. The torch will be making its appearance from 5th August until the closing ceremony on 21st August.

One flick of a switch and ’tis the season. Camana Bay’s beloved Christmas tradition has returned, this celebration of the romance of Christmas has become a fixed part of the island, and draws residents and visitors alike! Was wonderful to document the emotion and sheer joy of the start to the holiday season.

We have here a gorgeous family of four, mom, dad, a big brother, and adorable little sister.

It goes without saying that I love my family studio sessions, but I hear from the moms and dad so often that its difficult to keep the little ones attention for so long! Lets face it, we try so hard to get them to sit still and smile for a pretty picture and sometimes they’re just not having it!

 Let me tell you why I love photographing my families on location, and how this could work for your little ones!

Children love to play, and they lose interest in one thing so quickly, before you know it they’re on to the next thing. When your children are playing outside with you it’s much easier to coax them into to doing the things that naturally make the perfect photograph! Lifestyle photos look so natural to me and thats what I love about them! This is whats real in the family and when you look at those life style photographs you have a more sentimental feeling about it rather than a forced smile posing for the camera. Not to say that one is better than the other, just that they are different! What could be better on a hot Summers afternoon than a family day out at Camana Bay. A great day for the kids and Mum & Dad playing games, eating food and cooling off in the water fountains. That was exactly what many families enjoyed recently at the Crescent with the Summer Splash Party organized by our colleagues at Dart Realty/Camana Bay. But the entertainment did not stop there. With live music with DJ Lin there was no excuses not to dance along to your favorite Summer beats, and with prizes to be won it was a great afternoon for all to be had. Looking forward to the opening night of the Olympic games at the Crescent Camana Bay on Friday 5th August 2016. Hope to see you there for the big screen and fireworks!

While I was getting our studio ready for a newborn shoot, something caught this big sister’s eye. Sitting on the edge of her seat looking across the studio she was saying  “I love that dress! It’s so pretty! Can I try it on?”

 She was so cute! Every girl needs to feel like a princess sometimes. And that just happens to be what our studio is for; to dress up and feel beautiful. So of course she put on the little ballerina tutu and as she started twirling around the room, I started photographing her. When she is older  I know she will look at these pictures and remember that she had just become a big sister, and also she’ll remember that tutu I’m sure!

And I will remember just how much she loved dancing in it.
