Wow and wow!!! This is by far the largest and most impressive home I have ever shot. After 25.5 hours shooting, following the light, wandering the hallways, exploring the various rooms, multiple buildings and expansive grounds I managed to capture the impressive abode. (note the beautiful drone shots were taken by Aerial Innovations).

This mega mansion and eye candy of design, decor and photography can be viewed in this edition of Real Life Magazine, it is a free magazine on stands around the island and I highly recommend you pick it up. It is so dreamy to flip through. Design Cayman are the architects and masterminds of this beauty and it took 5 years to complete this home. From conception, construction and craftsmanship, to finally the actual move in date, it was a commitment on everyone’s part. Everyone I spoke to involved with this house was so glowing with pride being a part of such a masterpiece.

I too was extremely proud and honored to be a part of the project and to be able to spend time and explore this gorgeous home capturing it’s beauty and uniquness.

I always love working with Real Life. A woman run girl power magazine that is all good people. I also am so impressed by the photos that Real Life curate into their magazine. In shoots like this there are literally 1000’s of images to choose from and how they decide which to choose and how they make them blend perfectly together is always impressive.

Having said that, there are always photos that as a photographer I LOVE. I somehow become emotionally attached to photos for different reasons, the moment in time, the sheer beauty, the light that happened to be shimmering on the subject or the angle that I just love. So below are a few additional pix I could not resist sharing.

Family Photography |Seven Mile Beach

I loved this location session, and it is an especially special one to me as I photographed this little girl as a newborn baby. That newborn session just happens to have been one of my very first sessions when I first started working here at Picture This Studios.

So what an honor it is to be capturing such precious moments such as these of them together as a family even now, a year later! It’s true when they say time flies when your having fun, not just for me and my passion for photography, but for them too, as a family. To watch their beautiful daughter grow; the first year of your babies life is one the most crucial times. It’s when you really experience so much, and learn so much about this little person that she is growing up to be. You really grow together as a family, and thats the most beautiful thing. Having these moments of your life photographed is one of the best gifts to your families future selves!

Seven Mile Engagement | Nataliya & Bryant

Natalyia & Bryant were just recently on vacation visiting family in Cayman Islands. Bryant was waiting for the perfect moment to propose to his beautiful girlfriend Nataliya. Not only did he want the moment to be perfect, he wanted to surprise her. He was afraid she might find out as they were traveling together and he has had the ring with him the whole time. After just spending their entire gorgeous day together on the beach, Bryan had heard from some local bartenders at Royal Palms Beach Club that they are lucky because the weather in Cayman has been rainy lately and this was the first nice day in a few days. After hearing this Bryant felt sure that its was finally the perfect moment to pop the question over the most gorgeous sun set!

And thats where I come in!

It was such a pleasure to capture their engagement photos at the exact same spot on Seven Mile Beach that they got engaged! I had a wonderful time photographing this special occasion with Nataliya & Bryant. I was happy to meet this couple, get to know them a little bit, and photograph the beginning of their love story. Here’s how their photos turned out, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I find these photographs sum up pretty much who they are together, classy, fun, adventurous, spontaneous, lively, and madly in love!

There is so much that I just loved about this family session!

To start off with, I find so much joy in photographing families with small children. This is one of the great parts of being a lifestyle family photographer; toddlers are such busy little people, so unpredictable, and yet you still can have such a strong connection with them. You can plainly see in these photographs the bond between this little sweet heart and her mom and dad. I am so grateful for the ability to draw her attention towards my camera and capture her emotion or expression in that instant moment, otherwise it would be gone in the blink of an eye!

Now let me tell you why location sessions give me more ability and opportunity for those real quality shots.
Little ones are so curious all the time! So when I take families on a location, this gives them all the space they need to run, play, and have fun, naturally as kids do. It gives them the freedom to explore, and to get distracted with all thats around them in the great out doors! As for me I am just following them around with my camera, waiting for that perfect shot, not knowing how it will unfold, but knowing that it will!

What was it that was particularly special about photographing this session? It was exciting times for mom, dad and for this little girl too, who is a soon to be big sister! Whether or not she is too young to recognize that, these photos will be something precious to her one day. More love, life, and joy to be shared in this beautiful growing family! And to see it in these stages, these milestones are to keep forever!

I had the best time with this lovely family. Vicki, Bicrom, and their sweet little girl Ameya were the most amazing clients. Vicki wanted something a little more different than the typical beach scene so we opted for a location with more foliage and beautiful light. This session was so easy as I was able to capture them just the way they are. Thank you Vicki and Bicrom for trusting me with your memories!

Sidenote: This is the perfect season for family portraits when the weather is still a bit more cool so if you plan on updating your family portraits this year there is no better time than now!

What is your favorite family activity? Travelling
Who are the members of your family and tell me a quick fact about each person:
Tell me about your favorite part of our session, or why you enjoyed the session Ameya discovered the pockets in her dress and had a lovely collecting stones and putting them in her pockets. It’s the simple things. She’s still talking about the shoot and Ms Lady Daria.
Tell me about the outfits you wore to the shoot (where you bought them, why you chose them, etc) Ameya’s dress was from baby gap, we chose it because of the mixture of colours and textures. The other outfits were chosen to compliment our daughters dress, she’s the star of the show after all.
What props did you bring and why? Flowers and balloon.
What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a family session? Plan your outfits and pick a good time for your child, a time when they are most likely to be happy and not tired.
Where you worried about any parts of the session beforehand? If so, what were your worries? Only the weather.

Off The Beaten Track | Cayman Islands Sports Events

It was another beautiful day in the Cayman Islands and a great day for shooting Cayman’s only off the road 50k Ultra Marathon and relay race. Off The Beaten Track was completed by over 500 individuals. The event organized by KRyS Global and Race Caribbean proved to be an amazing event. It never ceases to amaze me the time, dedication and the commitment both the organizers and the participants put into these events. I think you all are a little crazy running in that heat especially those of you completing the 50k, but I also take my hat off to you! Congratulations to the individual race winners and to the relay team winners and well done to all those who completed the race. I look forward to seeing you all at the next event!

There’s nothing more we love than shooting in gorgeous evening light! Read all about the Watts Family experience with Picture This Studios.

Session Location and Why you chose it: A field in West Bay. We had mentioned that we wanted something with a field and maybe an older house and we were told said she had the perfect spot for us.
Weather Conditions on day of session: The weather was perfect and we had a slight breeze during the shoot.

Who are the members of your family and tell me a quick fact about each person:
Brad – Was a Police Officer in the United States before moving to Cayman and has played a bad guy in two different movies.
Trisha – Is a Speech Language Pathologist and likes to travel
Mackenzie – Loves makeup and fashion – aspires to be a model
Avery – Is a natural comedian and loves listening to country music singer, Luke Bryan, with her Mommy

Tell me about the outfits you wore to the shoot (where you bought them, why you chose them, etc) For family photos, we like to coordinate colours in order to compliment one another. Often times, Trisha will find one shirt or outfit that she really likes and build off of it from there. These specific outfits were purchased in the U.S. during a recent trip.
What props did you bring and why? Scarves, necklaces and hats were used as props to give a different feel in some of the shots. They also highlight and bring out some of the colors of the outfits, our hair and eyes. We really like pictures of our girls in cute hats.

What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a family session?
Make sure your outfits blend and compliment one another. Clashing outfits really stand out and don’t make for nice photographs. If you have several outfit changes, make sure you book an hour session as opposed to a half hour to cause less stress. If you have children, bring snacks and offer rewards (treats) at the end of the session. Bribery = success. Also, let the kids talk to the photographer about what they want in the way of the photographs.

Where you worried about any parts of the session beforehand? If so, what were your worries?
The weather. Though not easy to predict when you book in advance, it is still always good to have a backup plan.

Grand Cayman Family Photography | Burt Family. August 15th was a beautiful, typical sunny Caribbean day with the lovely, and energetic Burt family. With both parents and their beautiful three children, Kazimir, Bronwen and Blake, there was no difficulty finding these special family moments. Manuela told us that having everyone together was her favourite part of the session as they don’t often have the spare time to capture these moments on camera. The family enjoys their Caribbean lifestyle, boating, swimming and playing board games together. The leather chair they chose to use in their photo shoot was very specific as it has been in the family for years, and all the children have an attachment to it. The only advice the easy going family has to give to other prospective family photo shoots, is to do as they did; smile and have fun!

First we will tell you Our take on the story about Danielle and Cecil’s Engagement shoot. We were so excited to shoot this happy couple’s engagement session! Knowing Danielle and her family for quite some time, and working with her at many Weddings over the years. Danielle is a very talented steel pan player and we often work together at Weddings, so when she told me she was engaged, I couldn’t wait to meet him and get to know him. Let me tell you, they are perfect for each other! So thrilled I was to shoot this engagement session!
Now here’s Danielle’s take on the day – “I contacted Rebecca about doing the photos celebrating our engagement, as she is a long time family friend and we wanted to use someone we loved so it would be really special. We Chose to go with Dart Park on South Church St. for our shoot, because its a beautiful location with a lot of different options for a backdrop. We used the wooded areas, the big trees, the ocean and even the little house, and ended up with loads of beautiful photos to choose from! Rebecca did a beautiful job of using the light in every location we liked, and always managed to find our good side. I don’t remember what jokes and stories she told to keep us smiling, but she kept us feeling fun and relaxed the entire shoot. She was so good at putting us at ease! We had a fantastic time, and got tons of photos that we absolutely love.”

We had a such a beautiful Photo Shoot with this sweet little family of five, in the Cayman Islands. Of course the beaches are beautiful and most often desired for family portraits, but there are so many different and unique spots around the Island to capture the warmest moments such as these.
Look at this cute little girl with those striking eye in the chair. she’s so lovely. Even though the Scenery is Gorgeous, we usually like to have a few props on our family shoots, check out the funky chair!
Three little siblings, how cute they are and precious are their smiles. These Little girls love their teddy bears, being comforted is relaxing, being relaxed is natural, and that naturally makes for some great photographs. aren’t they as cute as can be? capturing the laughter of children really brings the moment to life. playing in the sand, they are totally in their element and completely content. What more could you ask for!
