Once the “formal” family portraits are finished, it is so much fun to finish with a splash! This gorgeous family brought floaties and jumped and played in our blue waters of Seven Mile Beach.

I had so much fun collaborating with Sophie & Harriet from Lustic Life! I asked for them to help me out with a fun idea for a photo session. I envisioned our very own Seven Mile Beach, sun dresses, big sun hats, sun glasses, island drinks with umbrellas, coconuts and pineapples, and the ultimate floaties. Nothing says summer more; especially Cayman summers!

If by some miracle you haven’t noticed its really hot out there!  No matter how much I reassure my clients that they are looking like a million dollars in every shot I take, they cant help but feel like a hot mess, melting like a popsicle!
That of course lead to the thought; my clients need to feel great during our sessions, but how can they feel great standing in the hot sand with the sun beaming down on them fully dressed? How can I make them feel great? Thats when I decided this summer I want to promote the ultimate Beach Mini Sessions!

First of all plan for the ultimate fun beach day under the sun! Wear your bathing suits, and bring your floaties! (On Island you can get floaties like this one and more from Belle by Celebrations and lets have some fun under the sun! Im going to be running these awesome mini sessions for the whole month of August! “Me & My Island BFF” so don’t miss out!

Thanks so much to Sophie and Harriet for helping me to create exactly the kind of session i envisioned –  an island fun and playful under the sun kinda day.  You girls Rocked it!

I loved this location session, and it is an especially special one to me as I photographed this little girl as a newborn baby. That newborn session just happens to have been one of my very first sessions when I first started working here at Picture This Studios.

So what an honor it is to be capturing such precious moments such as these of them together as a family even now, a year later! It’s true when they say time flies when your having fun, not just for me and my passion for photography, but for them too, as a family.  To watch their beautiful daughter grow; the first year of your babies life is one the most crucial times. It’s when you really experience so much, and learn so much about this little person that she is growing up to be. You really grow together as a family, and thats the most beautiful thing. Having these moments of your life photographed is one of the best gifts to your families future selves!

Natalyia & Bryant were just recently on vacation visiting family in Cayman Islands. Bryant was waiting for the perfect moment to propose to his beautiful girlfriend Nataliya. Not only did he want the moment to be perfect, he wanted to surprise her. He was afraid she might find out as they were traveling together and he has had the ring with him the whole time. After just spending their entire gorgeous day together on the beach, Bryan had heard from some local bartenders at Royal Palms Beach Club that they are lucky because the weather in Cayman has been rainy lately and this was the first nice day in a few days. After hearing this Bryant felt sure that its was finally the perfect moment to pop the question over the most gorgeous sun set!

And thats where I come in!

It was such a pleasure to capture their engagement photos at the exact same spot on Seven Mile Beach that they got engaged! I had a wonderful time photographing this special occasion with Nataliya & Bryant. I was happy to meet this couple, get to know them a little bit, and photograph the beginning of their love story. Here’s how their photos turned out, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.  I find these photographs sum up pretty much who they are together, classy, fun, adventurous, spontaneous, lively, and madly in love!

I had a great time on the beach with this lovely family taking shots of them upon the gorgeous sands and blue waters of Seven Mile Beach. Little Amelia loved running up and down on the sands and through the water getting her feet wet. If this did not tire her out, this little bundle of energy enjoyed being playfully swung up in the air by her Father followed by a cooling off splash in the sea.

There is so much that I just loved about this family session!

 To start off with, I find so much joy in photographing families with small children. This is one of the great parts of being a lifestyle family photographer; toddlers are such busy little people, so unpredictable, and yet you still can have such a strong connection with them. You can plainly see in these photographs the bond between this little sweet heart and her mom and dad. I am so grateful for the ability to draw her attention towards my camera and capture her emotion or expression in that instant moment, otherwise it would be gone in the blink of an eye!

Now let me tell you why location sessions give me more ability and opportunity for those real quality shots.
Little ones are so curious all the time! So when I take families on a location, this gives them all the space they need to run, play, and have fun, naturally as kids do. It gives them the freedom to explore, and to get distracted with all thats around them in the great out doors! As for me I am just following them around with my camera, waiting for that perfect shot, not knowing how it will unfold, but knowing that it will!

What was it that was particularly special about photographing this session? It was exciting times for mom, dad and for this little girl too, who is a soon to be big sister! Whether or not she is too young to recognize that, these photos will be something precious to her one day. More love, life, and joy to be shared in this beautiful growing family! And to see it in these stages, these milestones are to keep forever!

We got married in Grand Cayman and wanted to celebrate our first year together somewhere special on island. It happened to be that the Kimpton Seafire was opening the very week of our anniversary, so we decided to spend the weekend at Cayman’s newest hotel resort.

From the moment that we stepped through the front doors of the resort we knew we had found somewhere very special. Still holding our glasses of champagne that we had received at reception we opened the door to our room for the next two nights. We were greeted with a spectacular view over the pool area and over Seven Mile Beach. The room was luxurious, spacious, clean, bright and modern. Walking through the resort the luxurious theme continued with the spectacular pool overlooking the beach. We sampled the food at the three main restaurants and were blown away with the food and the excellent service.

We can categorically say that we had an amazing time at the Kimpton Seafire. I hope that we do not have to wait too long before we can stay there again!

I had such an awesome time on the beach with Katie, Daniel and their little munchkins. What a sweet, loving and super laid back family. It was like any other day on the beach with their children. They interacted and engaged each other so naturally that it made my job just that much easier. Dad even brought some beers for the session (pictured below..lol)…it’s probably a good suggestion to some of the future dads taking part in a beach family photo session! 😉

I need to take out my big girl camera out more often because every once in a while I’ll be able to get some photos of my own little one! I’ve photographed many children and babies in the last 5 years and no matter how much you tell me your child is difficult to photograph I will NOT believe you! Why…because I have the most difficult toddler ever! Go figure since photography is my day job 🙂 I have given up on any posed shots with my little gal which I don’t mind because I always love the candid, random glances at the camera photos. This is my Ellerie…and this is how I will remember her at this age

These cute kiddos are came with their Valentine faces on! All dressed so sweet with the biggest smiles! We had so much fun in the studio shooting these mini photo sessions. Great excuse to capture your kiddies at any age. Thank you to all the parents that came out and helped behind the scenes making their children smile. Hope everyone had a sweet Valentine’s Day weekend!
