JUNE 16TH – WORLD SEA TURTLE DAY

World Sea Turtle Day is used to honor and highlight the importance of sea turtles. These creatures, like any other creature, are magnificent in their own way. Not only are sea turtles beautiful animals, but they also show incredible perseverance and resiliency – after all, they have been nesting on beaches for millions of years. So of course they deserve their own day dedicated to their awesomeness!

To celebrate these amazing creatures the Cayman Turtle Center released several turtles into the wild. Hopefully someday they will return to Cayman’s shores and mate and lay eggs and further the recovery of this peaceful and graceful species.

Going, going, gone… it’s a big blue ocean out there, good luck out there beautiful ones!

Once the “formal” family portraits are finished, it is so much fun to finish with a splash! This gorgeous family brought floaties and jumped and played in our blue waters of Seven Mile Beach.

Meet Olga and her brown-eye princess, Charlotte. To say I am in love with their session is an understatement! Beautiful light, a stunning mom, and a smiley baby made this shoot way too easy to love. I especially adore the horizon shots. The texture of the calm water and soft light just moves my soul.  Hope you love these as much as I do!

This Texas family came to the Cayman Islands for a sun soaked vacation on the long stretch of Seven Mile Beach. Two cute sisters and youthful looking parents made a great photoshoot. Starting at the lushes green gardens of the Kimpton Seafire, and working our way down to Tiki Beach, I had a lot of fun capturing this bunch. The sisters were having a blast, running around all over the place, hardly keeping still for a photograph! This however resulted in some interesting angles, having the family look down at the camera whilst I lay down on the sand. The spontaneous nature of working with two energetic sisters and fun parents made an awesome photography session here in the beautiful Cayman Islands.
 

I had the pleasure and the honor to capture Michelle & Cory’s lovely Cayman beach wedding. This fun loving couple were joined by their close family and friends for an intimate wedding on Spotts Beach. Proceedings started with a few glasses of champagne whilst getting ready at the Morritts Resort, followed by their ceremony at the beach. The procession continued at Tukka for their reception and cake cutting.
This couple were such fun to work with and were so keen and excited for their big day…..but they were not finished there! Both Michelle & Cory had spoken about a Trash The Dress session. So who was I to disappoint this lovely couple? A location and date was set for some fun photos where getting wet was a necessity. Emily and Dan, two folks that fell in love with Grand Cayman years ago while they both were studying for their respective medical degrees. The destination wedding location was a no-brainer, venue being The Caribbean Club, a chic – boutique hotel that lies in the heart of the renowned Seven Mile Beach. Dozens of family and friends traveled from across the globe to bear witness to the unconditional love that the two have for each other and the picture perfect ceremony. Seeing as both Emily and Dan have such a love for the sea, they requested an encore session (trash the dress) the day after the wedding where they both jumped in the sea and experienced some intimate moments alone – my paparazzi camera at a distance of course. Below are highlights of the festivities from start to finish! A big kudos to the staff at Caribbean Club for making the day run smooth as silk as well as the planning and decor team at Celebrations, who transformed an empty beachfront into wedding bliss.

I had so much fun collaborating with Sophie & Harriet from Lustic Life! I asked for them to help me out with a fun idea for a photo session. I envisioned our very own Seven Mile Beach, sun dresses, big sun hats, sun glasses, island drinks with umbrellas, coconuts and pineapples, and the ultimate floaties. Nothing says summer more; especially Cayman summers!

If by some miracle you haven’t noticed its really hot out there!  No matter how much I reassure my clients that they are looking like a million dollars in every shot I take, they cant help but feel like a hot mess, melting like a popsicle!
That of course lead to the thought; my clients need to feel great during our sessions, but how can they feel great standing in the hot sand with the sun beaming down on them fully dressed? How can I make them feel great? Thats when I decided this summer I want to promote the ultimate Beach Mini Sessions!

First of all plan for the ultimate fun beach day under the sun! Wear your bathing suits, and bring your floaties! (On Island you can get floaties like this one and more from Belle by Celebrations and lets have some fun under the sun! Im going to be running these awesome mini sessions for the whole month of August! “Me & My Island BFF” so don’t miss out!

Thanks so much to Sophie and Harriet for helping me to create exactly the kind of session i envisioned –  an island fun and playful under the sun kinda day.  You girls Rocked it!

I had a great time on the beach with this lovely family taking shots of them upon the gorgeous sands and blue waters of Seven Mile Beach. Little Amelia loved running up and down on the sands and through the water getting her feet wet. If this did not tire her out, this little bundle of energy enjoyed being playfully swung up in the air by her Father followed by a cooling off splash in the sea.

We got married in Grand Cayman and wanted to celebrate our first year together somewhere special on island. It happened to be that the Kimpton Seafire was opening the very week of our anniversary, so we decided to spend the weekend at Cayman’s newest hotel resort.

From the moment that we stepped through the front doors of the resort we knew we had found somewhere very special. Still holding our glasses of champagne that we had received at reception we opened the door to our room for the next two nights. We were greeted with a spectacular view over the pool area and over Seven Mile Beach. The room was luxurious, spacious, clean, bright and modern. Walking through the resort the luxurious theme continued with the spectacular pool overlooking the beach. We sampled the food at the three main restaurants and were blown away with the food and the excellent service.

We can categorically say that we had an amazing time at the Kimpton Seafire. I hope that we do not have to wait too long before we can stay there again!

I had great fun taking images for Melissa & Johann’s surprise engagement shoot. Pretending to take photos on another shoot, I quickly changed my attention to Johann who discreetly signaled to me that he was ready to perform the deed. Swinging my camera around I captured Johann getting down on one knee and popping the question………..”She said Yes”. We had a lovely sunset to set the tone of this romantic occasion, all set on this beautiful part of Seven Mile beach. Congratulations to this lovely couple and we wish you well in married life together.
